Projects supported by the Science of Longevity Foundation

The projects supported by the Science of Longevity Foundation include: treatment of carcinogenic diseases through the search of genes activating and suppressing the growth of various tumors; induction of mechanisms activating and suppressing the telomerase process; screening оf neuro-genes which will enable scientists to identify the actual causes of many widespread diseases, such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. The Science of Longevity Foundation supports and co-ordinates research associated with artificial activation of numerous immunogenic mechanisms in the human body. Many other interesting developments of laboratories, institutes and independent scientists working on the implementation of a variety of promising and interesting projects are also supported.

One of SLF projects initiated by Professor Vladimir Ivanov concerns prospective genetic testing of people for genes predisposing them to common diseases. The aim of the test is preventive genetic correction of DNA defects revealed. The project is based on the fact that DNA lesions in the genome may be detected at any age of the testee, including the lesions related to common diseases shortening the span of active life, such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, malignancies, neurological and rheumatoid diseases and so on. In the near future the scientists involved in the project will be able to prevent the development of the diseases, employing diverse methods of genomic and proteomic engineering.

Among new projects supported by the Science of Longevity Foundation, there is a new field, which deals with substitutive hormone-peptide therapy. The introduction of this type of therapy will allow significant extension of the biological life of man, provided that there is adequate information on the hormone and peptide set of the human body. This study is unique because currently it is impossible to create universal "longevity pills" acceptable to all mankind. The experts of the Science of Longevity Foundation have proposed a unique individual hormone-peptide therapy which has been developed on the basis of specific and strictly individual biochemical characteristics of the organism of each patient - "complete substitutions". As a result of such therapy, each individual will be able to slow down the aging and acquire certain independence from genetically pre-determined aging processes.

The scientists of the Foundation believe that, with respect to a number of hormones and peptides, this substitutive therapy can not only slow down the genetic aging program but also change the vector of its evolution.
